Crepes (are good for the soul)

Thankful Thursday: Andrea

Today is a special Thankful Thursday.

Not only does it fall on Thanksgiving, it's my dear sister Andrea's birthday! Happy Birthday Sis!

I'm thankful for Andrea (sister #3). There are lots of reasons to love her. I'll let you in on a few:

she always tries to find common ground, no matter our differing beliefs
she plays music beautifully (I love hearing the piano, violin or cello wafting through the house!)
she's wise for being so young
she mothers everyone, taking care of little things that help the household run
she paints gorgeous paintings (she's just creatively talented in general!)
she's fabulous with our niece and nephew
she gets more beautiful with every year passing
she loves God and communes in her own personal way, and allows others to do it their way
she makes all kinds of deliciousness happen in the kitchen for the family
she takes care of Grandma without complaint, even the icky chores no one else wants
she's a natural at making fun movies (case in point)
she's a daydreamer rooted in realism, like me
she challenges herself consistently with her running routine
she loves family more than anything and shows it
she has such a contented, soothing energy

Yes, today I'm definitely most thankful for all of the fabulous people in my life. {yes, even in the midst of all the glorious food and wine!}

Happy Day of Thanks, Friends!

Favorite Song: From Anne of Green Gables, Where Else??

This is quite possibly my favorite song of my whole entire life.
{And considering the hours it sometimes takes me to commit to something for dinner, this is huge!}

It was written by Hagood Hardy for the soundtrack to one of my dearest favorite movies:
Anne of Green Gables (obvs the Sullivan Entertainment version)

If you have seen the movie(s), just try to listen without getting teary, I dare you.

And if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend not waiting any longer!

Want to, Need to, Have to

Things I Do So Desire To Do Today:

Watch Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel {we always called it Anne of Avonlea}
{I like this old trailer. Movies have come a long way as far as production goes,
but this story has more heart and soul than all the new movies
I've seen in the past few years combined.}
 See my PLP
 Spend the afternoon hours of 2-4pm doing something for pure pleasure {I did yoga. Ahh}
{I'm almost always working at this time of day}
 Read
See the new Harry Potter
Spend time with friends and my love
Get my brother a belated birthday present
Eat decadent delicious things
Organize my closet
Get out Christmas decorations {Shawn got them out from storage for me}
Make truffles or tres leches cake
Perhaps cook for Honey tonight  {I did! Homemade Manicotti Deliciousness!}
{I can't remember the last time I did! Horrible wifey am I!}
Get frames and hang some art
{can't believe I have some Severus prints from back when photography was mostly just an outlet for her!}
Play my piano {I worked out most of the left hand for my new song!}

Things I Must Get Done First:

Yoga
Drink tea
Sort laundry
Do dishes
Clean up the house
Spend three hours at the Laundromat
Do the budget, pay the bills
Go to the bank, Post Office, Grocery stores

Things I Have Already Done Today:

Paid for the engine for Shawn's van we got on ebay of all places
{one step closer to him driving again!
SO happy~ the van has been sitting in front of our house for six months
and it feels trashy, like we should have a six foot overgrown lawn to match}
Taken a bite out of an Espresso Truffle Cake from Whole Foods {pictured}
{yes I ate the chocolate covered espresso bean off the top first}
Read some lovely blog posts {and then a few more}
Been cheered up by my honey
{I am not a morning person and he has to get up early,
therefore he wakes me up every day
with his stomping, banging and smoothie blending}
Written this blog post/to-do list

Thankful Thursday! {My Life is Full}

{twirling my niece at my cousins wedding}

Thankful, so Thankful today. Why?

My loving family are alive and well.

My fiance finally decided we can move up north in a couple years.
{gave in is more like it}

It's a beautiful day in San Diego.

This fall weather makes me think of my Grampa who passed when I was 12. Love you, Gpa.
I still look at your homemade Print Shop cards.

Tina's wedding events last weekend are still making me emotional and grateful
for all of the family and love in my life.

Christmas coming makes me think of Aunt Susan, as if her daughter getting married didn't already.
Love you Auntie Susan.

For the two psychics who have approached me at two different places, years apart from each other,
and said the same thing (almost verbatim) to me about music being my path.
I still don't know what you mean, but I do know that I'm going to start playing piano again,
and that is enriching enough on its own to warrant my gratitude.

For my sisters. I hope you know how beautiful and cherished you are.

Blue Wedding Dress

Ok ok I know I already posted about this wedding. Couldn't resist. LOVE their location.

And La-la-la-love the blue wedding dress! Would you break tradition like that?

I most certainly would if I found the right dress, but I love wearing white, so we shall see!

P.S. Aren't wedding walks romantic? I'd love to take one after our ceremony.
(Just us two, maybe a photographer.. I wouldn't make our guests do it- they'll be busy sipping cocktails anyway ;)

Thankful Thursday: Things Now and Coming

Thankful:

10 out of 13 family members will be together in California for a visit for the first time in years.
Family events all weekend, even including Monday.
My baby cousin is getting married Sunday.
I did Pilates for the first time in a couple weeks. Gosh it felt good.
This song. {especially the sweet moves around the 1:17 mark}
Christmas is six weeks away!
Things have been calmer at work.
It's a glorious day.
I've been sleeping much better.

You?

Free Hugs

How often do you hug someone?

I admit, I only give hugs to my love, best friends, and family, and usually in greeting or parting, or on special occasions.

When Katie posted this awesome video on her blog, it reminded me of the Free Hugs Campaign.

From the FHC website:

"Sometimes, a hug is all what we need.

Free hugs is a real life controversial story of Juan Mann, A man whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger to brighten up their lives.

In this age of social disconnectivity and lack of human contact, the effects of the Free Hugs campaign became phenomenal."

If you read how it all started first, watching this video will be even better.

Good reminders. Connect more! Hug more. Spread love more.

Apple Pie

I've been craving a good apple pie for months now.
I don't seem to be able to find a bakery or restaurant that does it the way I want:
the perfect mix of apples for sweetness and tartness,
just enough glaze to make it sticky,
perfectly thin apple slices,
a buttery crumbly crust,
and a cinnamony, sugary, apple crisp-esque topping.
I saw these photos by Debbie Carlos via her mouthwatering Weekend blog and I'm inspired.
(Not just by the pie- she captures some beautiful light and her whole blog makes me hungry!)
You want something done right, you got to do it yourself, right?
I'm on the hunt for the perfect apple pie recipe. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thankful Thursday: A Mix-Mash

This Thursday I was Thankful:

~ To get the pile of laundry done
~ To get the pile of dishes done
~ For Air Conditioning in my car and home (my thermometer read 106!)
~ That Chicken Pot Pie was a phone call and a ten minute drive away
~ For my Fiance (even though we fought all day, it's nice to still love someone after all the fighting dies down)
~ That he made his famous Black Meets White pie for me as a peace offering
~ To be fed, relaxed and in bed long before midnight
~ For my family, who are always there for me
~ That he watched Ever After with me, and actually didn't cringe.

What were you thankful for?

Jump!

Go ahead and JUMP!

I've been too busy to blog between fun Halloween festivities and working a ton,
so here's a fun pic Brother #1 took of Brother #3 and my niece,
and a nice peppy soundtrack addition for your day. ;)

P.S. Brad finally started a Flickr to document his journey learning photography.
I'm excited for him!
